It has long been a great desire to come to northern Norway to go underwater hunting. We were a small group of four people, all of whom I have been diving with for the past few years.
We have decided that this year we will try our hand at Saltstraumen in northern Norway. Saltstraumen is known as the strongest tidal current of the vende. It attracts a lot of life and big fish, and it is precisely there because we are there. We hope to experience large shoals of fish, wild forces of nature and perhaps a large cod or halibut.
At 4.30 at night, Mads drove from Djursland. Two of us were picked up by Mads on the way to Kastrup airport. We have agreed to meet the last participant at the airport. We arrived in Bodø and from there we have to go by mini bus the last part of the way, about 30 km, before we reach our destination.
We get set up in our apartment and unpack our equipment. The boat is packed and shortly after we arrive we are all ready in our wetsuits. We spend the first day getting to know the current a little and diving at spots in the immediate area.
