Spearfishing in Norway with Kleinsub
If you haven’t tried spearfishing in Norway, you owe yourself the experience. And if you’ve been before, you already know the incredible adventures that await. This August, you have the opportunity to join Kleinsub on a trip to Norway.
We are based in Folde (near the Hitra area), with access to diving both from shore and by boat. The house we’ll stay in is located just a few meters from the water, offering stunning sea views and easy access to dive spots.
We have extensive local knowledge and know many dive spots suitable for both beginner and experienced spearfishers.
Spearfishing
Each morning, we plan the day’s diving based on weather conditions and experience level. You’ll get an introduction to the best spots in the area before we split into smaller groups of 3–4 people and head out hunting together.
We dive both from shore and by boat. An instructor will join the boat group. You’ll also have the option to take a day off from diving to explore the surrounding nature.
Experience
It’s an advantage to have some experience with spearfishing so you can hunt independently after a briefing. To get the most out of the trip, we recommend that you are comfortable diving to 5+ meters.
That said, there are still plenty of experiences and fish waiting for you—even if you don’t dive very deep.
Equipment
We use almost the same gear as in Denmark, with a few adjustments. Due to generally good visibility in Norway, shots are often taken at longer distances—making a 90–115 cm speargun ideal.
When diving from a boat, we use torpedo floats as they take up less space. The same applies when diving from shore, but you can also borrow one of the two Sea Guard floats if you want to venture further out.
If you plan to bring fish home, you’ll need a cool box or insulated foam box with a lid.
Transport
We travel together to Norway in a minibus (9 seats). The bus departs from Fredericia in the late afternoon and can pick up participants along the way to the ferry in Hirtshals.
The ferry crossing takes 3.5 hours, and we travel overnight and during the day to reach our house, arriving in the afternoon.
